Uttarakhand is a Himalayan state in northern India, rich in lakes, forests and mountain towns. The Kumaon hills I travelled in sit right beside far-western Nepal.
Nainital
Nainital is a hill town built around a lake, a popular escape in the Kumaon region.
Pithoragarh
Pithoragarh is a Kumaon district that borders Nepal near my home district of Darchula, so the culture and food felt familiar.
